Running Adobe Reader in Ubuntu for the first time.
Having a software that reads PDF files is a must on any Operating System. Although the Evince Document Viewer comes with Ubuntu, and it can PDF files, however I found it a little slow to load up a PDF file for viewing. So I decided to install the Adobe Reader instead.
Installing Adobe Reader on Ubuntu is easy enough. However when running the Adobe Reader for the first time can be a little tricky. I got the error message that says:
Although the message is clear enough, but can be a little daunting especially when you do not know where the actual location of the files are. For someone new to Ubuntu, even the location of Firefox program may not be easy to find. Anyhow, to make things easy for you, specify the file locations as follows:
libgtkembedmoz Folder: /usr/lib/firefox

Finally click Ok to save the settings and restart your Adobe Reader. That should get rid of the error message and get you on your way to using the Adobe Reader.
In case your PDF file does not open up with Adobe Reader by default, all you need to do are the following steps:
- Right click the PDF file and select Properties from the Menu
- Click the Open with tab and select the Adobe Reader radio button
- Click Close to save your new setting

The next time you double-click a PDF file, it should open with the Adobe Reader.
