Download and save YouTube Videos
YouTube is a phenomena that is hard to ignore when you spent time on the Internet. If you are unfamiliar with what it is, simply put, it is a website which allows you to upload and share videos. Right now there are literally thousands (if not millions) of video clips on YouTube. Although I must say that many of them just aren't worth watching. And having said that I must now add that there are some really good ones out there, which you might even like to save it on your computer to view later.
How do you save a YouTube video anyway? Since it is a streaming video, you can't just right click it and select save. (at least not to my knowledge). Fortunately there is a way (or even many ways) to do it. There is a website that does that for you, without you having to install anything. All you need is any Internet Browser. Downloader9.com is the place to go to download and save YouTube videos on to your computer.
The process is rather simple which involves only 3 steps.
- Get the URL of the YouTube video that you are watching. e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5P6UU6m3cqk&feature=related. Copy and paste that in the text box.
- Click on Get YouTube Video and a download window will appear - save it to your PC.
- Rename the downloaded video with a .flv extension, e.g. from get_video to transformers.flv
After you have downloaded the video, you will need a media player that can play the flv file format. They have a link on their website for a free flv player. However I would recommend VLC Media Player if you haven't already have one installed on your PC.
